SHORT HILLS, N.J. - This Valentine's Day will be one to remember for the Carolina Hurricanes, who are hosting their first-ever Moms Trip in New Jersey.

Seventeen moms and one sister are along for the ride on this one-game road trip, the Hurricanes' first of two visits to New Jersey this season.

"It's going to be fantastic," head coach Bill Peters said. "It's very special. I'm sure they're going to be very appreciative. It's a nice gesture by the ownership. It's fun. It truly is fun. It's something you don't get to do all the time, so when you do get to do it, you better cherish it."

All-Star: Hockey Hits the Beach

Hanifin arrives in Tampa for All-Star Weekend

by Michael Smith @MSmithCanes / CarolinaHurricanes.com

TAMPA - Ahoy, mateys.

The Carolina Hurricanes touched down in Raleigh in the wee hours of Friday morning following a wild 6-5 win in Montreal, and it was a quick turnaround for a couple of us, including Noah Hanifin, who is making his first career NHL All-Star appearance in Tampa.

Hanifin celebrated his 21st birthday on Tuesday with three assists and a plus-5 rating, as the Hurricanes snagged two points in a back-and-forth affair heading into All-Star Weekend. Fresh off that performance, Hanifin caught a flight down to Tampa on Friday morning, and our CarolinaHurricanes.com crew wasn't too far behind.
