Stewart, Joslin to Assist with 'Project Learn'

RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that Hurricanes forward Anthony Stewart and defenseman Derek Joslin will play hockey and assist with “Project Learn” at the John Avery Boys and Girls Club in Durham on Thursday, January 19. The event will take place from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. and is open to the media.

The John Avery Boys and Girls Club was established in 1942 and currently serves 780 children from 27 area schools. The Club provides a safe after-school environment with structured mentoring, health and wellness programming. “Project Learn” was developed by the Club to administer tutoring and homework assistance. The John Avery Boys and Girls Club’s “Project Learn” program received a $15,000 grant from the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation last fall.
