Tour begins Saturday in Charlotte


RALEIGH, NC—Howard Sadel, Director of Marketing and Creative Services for the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the Stanley Cup tour of North Carolina cities for this weekend. The tour will begin on Satudray, Oct. 7, at the Komen Race for the Cure in Charlotte, and will wrap up at Fayetteville’s Cross Creek Mall on Tuesday.

“The Hurricanes have fans all across North Carolina, not just in the Triangle,” said Sadel. “By taking the Stanley Cup to these places and events in the coming days, fans across the state will have a chance to share in the excitement of the team’s championship.”

Following the appearance at the Komen Race for the Cure, the Stanley Cup will travel to the Dixie Classic Fair’s Annex Building in Winston-Salem where it will be on display from 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Cup will be on display at 10 a.m. the Chrysler Classic golf tournament in Greensboro before moving on for a 6 p.m. appearance at Elon University’s Mosley Center in Elon, NC.

On Monday the Cup will be on display at 11:15 a.m., at the Imperial Center in Rocky Mount, NC before traveling to Greenville, NC. In Greenville, Hurricanes Radio Network affiliate Pirate Radio will broadcast live as the Cup is on display at East Carolina University’s Mendenhall Student Center from 4:30 to 6:30. Later that evening, the Cup will arrive in Goldsboro, NC, for a 7:45 appearance at Goldsboro’s City Hall.

The tour wraps up with two appearances in the Fayetteville area on Tuesday. Beginning at 10 a.m., the Cup will be on display at the North Post PX at Fort Bragg before heading to Cross Creek Mall for a three-hour appearance beginning at 4 p.m.

The Carolina Hurricanes will host “Opening Night 2” tonight against New Jersey.
