RALEIGH, NC (April 8, 2001) – The Carolina Hurricanes will begin their quest for the Stanley Cup on Thursday, April 12 against the defending National Hockey League champion New Jersey Devils at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J.
New Jersey is the top seed in the Eastern Conference and will play host to the first two games of the series before the scene shifts to the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Raleigh, N.C. for the third and fourth games of the best-of-7 series. Game 1 will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Game 2 will take place at 3 p.m. on April 15.
Carolina, the conference’s eighth seed, then will play host to Game 3 on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Game 4 on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 will be played at Continental Airlines Arena on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Game 6 will be at the ESA on April 22 at 3 p.m. and a deciding Game 7 will be played in New Jersey on April 24 at 7:30 p.m.
The television schedule hasn’t been finalized as of yet. There will be more details about the television schedule in the next couple of days.
The Hurricanes are currently taking season ticket holder/mini-plan playoff payments. Any season or mini-season holder who has not purchased their seat strips for the first two rounds of the playoffs may do so with a credit card or check at the ESA box office during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Season ticket holders/mini-plan holders who have purchased their playoff strips can call 1-888-NHL-TIX1 and order additional tickets.
