Canes, Panthers Donate Nearly 20,000 Pounds of Food to NC Food Bank, Isabel Relief Fund
RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2003) – Ken Lehner, Vice President of Marketing Communications for the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that nearly 20,000 pounds of food was donated to the North Carolina Food Bank and the Hurricane Isabel Relief Fund as part of a joint effort between the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes. The teams collected canned food goods for the relief efforts during preseason games at Flordia’s Office Depot Center and the RBC Center in Raleigh.
“We appreciate the pro-active approach that the Florida Panthers organization and their fans displayed in assisting the residents of North Carolina who were effected by Hurricane Isabel,” said Lehner, “We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of Caniacs who pitched in and contributed. Although the teams are competitive on the ice, we work closely off the ice.”
Lehner will be available to the media tonight in the RBC Center press box during the first intermission of the Hurricanes’ and Panthers’ game to answer questions regarding the teams’ Isabel relief efforts.
The Hurricanes play host to the Panthers tonight at 7 p.m. at the RBC Center, the teams’ second meeting of the 2003-04 regular season. Tickets for tonight’s game, and all October and November Hurricanes home games, are available at the Dodge Box Office at the RBC Center, all TicketMaster locations or by calling 919-834-4000.
