RALEIGH, NC - The 22nd annual Skate with the Canes presented by Advance Auto Parts will take place on Tuesday, January 14 at PNC Arena from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. This event is the most interactive, all-access, behind-the-scenes, player-friendly event that the Carolina Hurricanes organization offers each year. It is a unique Carolina Hurricanes Foundation fundraiser that allows fans and players to interact in an intimate environment by rotating through autographs, locker room photos and skating sessions in small groups of 200.
All proceeds benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation which strives to meet the health and educational needs of children, with a focus on underserved populations, and to strengthen youth hockey in our community. During the 2018-19 season, the Foundation proudly awarded $450,000 in cash grants to 25 children's nonprofits and youth hockey organizations in North Carolina.
"As a Raleigh-based company, we are always looking for ways to give back to our local community," said Jason McDonell, Chief Marketing Officer, Advance Auto Parts. "Supporting the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation through the Skate with the Canes program creates an unforgettable experience for fans, while raising much-needed funding for underserved communities throughout North Carolina."
"We are thrilled to have Advance Auto Parts be our presenting sponsor for Skate with the Canes," said Jon Chase, Hurricanes Vice President of Community Outreach and Executive Director of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. "Headquartered in Raleigh, NC, we value Advance Auto Parts dedication to our community as agents of change serving as the first presenting sponsor for this event. Thanks to their commitment, all of our Carolina Hurricanes Foundation fundraisers are graciously supported by corporate sponsors this season."
The $85 ticket includes all the activities below, a gift courtesy of the Carolina Hurricanes, poster and food and beverage. Tickets can be purchased online, at the PNC Arena Box Office, or by calling (919) 861-5494. On-sale dates are Nov. 12 for Season Ticket Members and Nov. 13 for the general public.
The players will rotate stations opposite event attendees so that all fans get one station with each different player grouping. At the autograph station, fans will have the opportunity to meet and receive autographs from Hurricanes players. Attendees will also get to tour the Hurricanes' renovated locker room, where they will have photo opportunities with players. The on-ice portion will be divided into three sections: a skating only area, a hockey activity zone and various photo stations.
Fans may bring their own skates for the ice session or pick up a complimentary rental pair. Attendees should bring their own cameras for the photo session. Children 13 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
