RALEIGH, NC (Feb. 17, 2000) – The Carolina Hurricanes will open the Second Annual Canes Summer Hockey School at the Entertainment and Sports Arena on July 31, 2000. The six-day camp will feature Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Paul Maurice, as well as guest appearances by Hurricanes players, who will join the Canes Summer Hockey School staff with on-ice instruction. Last year, Hurricanes players such as Arturs Irbe, Glen Wesley, and Bates Battaglia contributed to the instruction.

This summer, campers will have the opportunity to learn and improve their hockey skills at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, home of the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes. The camp will take full advantage of the amenities within the arena, including training on the high-quality ice surface and use of the spacious locker rooms.

All campers will also receive a camp jersey, a Hurricanes “goody” bag, and four tickets to a future Hurricanes’ home game during the 2000-2001 season. The cost for the camp is $400 for skaters and $200 for goalies.

For additional information about the Second Annual Canes Summer Hockey School, contact Hurricanes Youth and Amateur Hockey Coordinator Brian Mehm at (919) 467-7825, ext. 2209.
