Ryan Bayda Assigned to Albany

Winger will join Carolina’s top AHL affiliate

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that left wing Ryan Bayda has been assigned to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The River Rats begin their season tonight against the Binghamton Senators at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.

Bayda, 26, played in Carolina’s first game of the season on Wednesday against Montreal, after earning two assists in the Hurricanes’ six exhibition games. The Saskatoon, Sask., native has scored eight goals and earned 14 assists (22 points) in 79 NHL regular-season games with the Hurricanes in parts of four seasons. Bayda (5’11”, 185 lbs.) has scored 45 goals and earned 100 assists in 229 career AHL regular-season games with Lowell, Manitoba and Albany. Carolina drafted Bayda in the third round, 80th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
