Rodney Recalled to Take Seidenberg's Place

by Paul Branecky / Carolina Hurricanes
It appears that Dennis Seidenberg has suffered a setback and won't be able to play tonight after all, which has prompted the team to recall defenseman Bryan Rodney from Albany.  Frank Kaberle has been placed on injured reserve to make room.

That brings the number of current Canes defensemen who started the season in the AHL up to four.  Rodney also becomes the sixth player to make his NHL debut with the Canes already this season.

You might recall Rodney as the guy who has turned heads multiple times since being brought in to Albany just so the team could field a full team due to a flu epidemic.  He impressed then-coach Tom Rowe enough to earn a regular spot on the team and subsequently a contract with the Hurricanes after the season.

He was also impressive in training camp this year and stayed longer than both Casey Borer and Brett Carson, who are both already with the Canes.
