– Doug Warf, Vice President of Marketing for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that registration is now open for the 16th Annual Kids ‘N Community Golf Tournament
. The 2014 tournament will take place at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary on Sept. 22, and will have an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
As in years past, Hurricanes players, coaches, broadcasters, and management, will join each participating foursome. Each registered golfer will receive a gift bag valued at $250, on-course food and beverage and a tax receipt for participation. Following the tournament, golfers will enjoy a reception where prizes will be awarded to the tournament’s top teams and individual-hole contest winners. Prior to the tournament, participants will receive two tickets to a Hurricanes preseason game. Following the game, golfers will attend a pairings party with the team and meet the Hurricanes representatives they will play with at the tournament. The 2013 Kids ‘N Community Foundation golf tournament raised $80,000, part of the $582,000 the Foundation donated to 32 different children’s charities and organizations in 2013-14. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation’s level of giving, coupled with ticket and in-kind donations, ranked the Carolina Hurricanes seventh on the Triangle Business Journal’s list of largest corporate philanthropists.
The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives. Annually, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions of more than $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities and the Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in our state.
