RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that forward Jamieson Rees underwent meniscal surgery on his right knee on Tuesday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Joe Barker at Raleigh Orthopaedic, and Rees is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Rees, 20, tallied one assist in three preseason games with the Hurricanes after ranking tied for first among all skaters with three assists in three games at the 2021 NHL Prospects Showcase. The 5'10", 182-pound center earned 14 points (8g, 6a) in 29 American Hockey League (AHL) games with Chicago during his first professional season in 2020-21, ranking tied for second on the team in game-winning goals (2). Prior to turning professional, Rees recorded 113 points (33g, 80a) in 122 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Sarnia from 2017-20, serving as an alternate captain for the Sting in 2019-20. The Hamilton, Ont., native has represented Canada at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, winning a gold medal in 2018. Rees also played for Canada Black at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

in their regular-season opener at 7 p.m. at PNC Arena on Thursday.
