With the game time now set we can move forward with our activities for Sunday.
With a 7:30 start time the front lawn party
will get going at 5:00 p.m. (inflatables, street hockey, food and beverage, etc.). The Design
will be playing from 5:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. While The Design may not sound familiar to everyone, they are the band from the 2006 playoffs formerly known as Sugar. Sugar played out front multiple times and was very popular with our fans. Hopefully they can set the tone and bring some ’06 magic.
Premium Items: We will be handing out rally towels that state in big letters, “The Loudest House in the NHL.” Our fans have lived up to that motto thus far and I expect nothing less on Sunday. Something that really stood out from Game Four was the multiple standing ovations our crowd gave the Canes after the Devils had battled back to tie it at three. In many other markets fans would have grown uneasy or sat in silence. But not in our house, with our fans - great job!
A couple people have asked me, why rally towels? A few reasons: Visually they are one of the best options. Many arenas now hand out towels but have a low participation rate. When our fans are on their feet, screaming their heads off, the majority of our fans are waving their towels and it is a thing of beauty. Also, in the playoffs everything has to be done in a very short period of time. Many premium items take 2-6 weeks to turn around, while rally towels can be ordered and delivered within a few days.
Hurricanes Warning Siren: After inspiring performances by Super Bowl Champion Bill Cowher and wrestling/fan favorite Ric Flair, NFL Pro Bowler Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers will be sounding the siren.
Parking Lots: Parking lots will officially open at 2:30 p.m. I would be lying if I said I was not jealous when I am walking around in a suit and tie and look out the window and see everyone outside eating and drinking with fellow fans.
