Hello All, I hope everyone is doing well.
We are days away from the 10th Annual Caniac Carnival on Sunday, September 20, at the RBC Center! The carnival has grown each year in numbers and activities and we will once again be striving to bring the event to a new level of excitement this year. Festivities are going on throughout the day, so make sure to check the schedule
. Remember, there are events for individuals of all ages and activities for die-hard Caniacs or those yet to catch hockey fever.
To kick off the carnival’s activities we will be hosting the first annual Crazy Caniac Challenge
. Click on that link for the whole rundown, but basically you run/walk two miles, with the twist being half way through you have to eat two hot dogs and drink a soda at the one mile mark.
Four quick points on the Challenge!
- The winner will get two 12-game plans with the two runner-ups receiving autographed prizes. Also, all those that finish will be eligible to win two 12-game plans. With the race being capped at 300 entrants, you are guaranteed a 1-in-300 chance of winning tickets.
- You will get a t-shirt that you have to see to fully grasp its beauty.
- It is cheap ($15), fun and all proceeds go to the Kids 'N Community Foundation.
On a side note, a few of us tried it after work and I can confirm it is very do-able as we had a range of athletic abilities participating.
- Last point, there was a great post on our Facebook page urging participants to go above and beyond at the race and dress up. So feel free to dress wild and go crazy with it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Other Carnival Activities:
Practice: Due to a smaller roster for training camp and a shorter time period, we were not able to include a pre-season or Red/White game. Therefore, we have tried to add some fan-friendly elements to practice. The plan is to mic a coach and player, end with a Red/White shootout and 20 lucky winners will come down on the ice and take a picture with the team following the conclusion of practice. We will randomly select these individuals throughout the day and practice.
Before practice, some players and coaches will sit down with the one and only John Forslund inside the RBC Center for interviews.
Inflatables & Rides: We increased the number of rides and spread everything out last year. Lines were shorter and there was more to enjoy. Look for the same this year!
Bike Show: Red Bull is once again bringing out the TNT FMX show. They joined us last year and it is a breathtaking, heart stopping, "wow I can’t believe they just did that," type of show. Shows will take place at 11:00, 12:30 and 1:45.
Autograph Session: Wrist bands will be given away starting at 9:30. A couple of people have asked about an Express Line this year, but that will not be returning. We are hoping to have the whole team out there!
Give Blood: The American Red Cross will be bringing out the Bloodmobile. Individuals can sign up beforehand to give blood by visiting this page. Click on ‘search by sponsor code’ and enter 9968 or sign up the day of the event.
I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
