RALEIGH, NC. -The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to turn back to Frederik Andersen in net Monday as they meet the Washington Capitals at PNC Arena.
The 33-year-old netminder was in the starter's crease at morning skate after splitting the weekend back-to-back with Antti Raanta. Through five starts this season Andersen is 3-2 with an .896 save percentage. His most recent outing came on Friday night against the Islanders, suffering the defeat while allowing five. In terms of the skaters in front of Andersen, Paul Stastny is anticipated to play despite not being at morning skate. Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour said that it was just a maintenance morning for the veteran forward due to it being the team's third game in four days. Along similar lines, Derek Stepan is good to go after leaving Saturday's win in Philadelphia with an upper-body injury. Brind'Amour said that #21 not returning for the third period of that game was just out of precaution. And lastly, after missing the team's three most recent games, Calvin de Haan skated with the team this morning. While he's not expected to play tonight, Brind'Amour shared that #44 is "close" to returning to game action.
