GAME NIGHT: The Carolina Hurricanes enter Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after dropping the first game of their four-game home stand to the Montreal Canadiens…Montreal goaltender Jose Theodore recorded 26 saves to shutout the Hurricanes…Saturday night’s game is Nortel Networks T-shirt Night…The first 10,000 fans through the gates at the Entertainment and Sports Arena will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Nortel Networks…Carolina is 7-5-0 in its last 12 games…The Hurricanes are in third place in the Southeast Division, trailing the Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals, and are seeded 11th in the Eastern Conference with 56 points…Saturday’s game is the first of three consecutive home games against competition from the Southeast Division…Carolina hosts the second-place Washington Capitals on Monday, and the first-place Florida Panthers next Thursday…Game time for Saturday’s game was moved from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. due to the N.C. CAROLINA/TAMPA BAY SERIES: The Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightning meet tonight for the final time this season…Carolina leads the 1999-2000 season series, 2-1-1…The Hurricanes lead the overall series by a 16-9-6 margin, including a 10-2-3 mark at home…Hurricanes defenseman Sean Hill leads all scorers with six points (4g, 2a) in the series this season…Netminder Arturs Irbe has posted a 2-1-1 mark with a 2.46 goals against average and a .896 save percentage against the Lightning this year…Carolina has tallied six power-play goals (6-for-17, 35.3%) and have killed eight of 11 penalties (72.7%) in the four games.

CAROLINA NOTES The Carolina Hurricanes fell 3-0 to the Montreal Canadiens in their first game at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in 16 days….After trailing 1-0, Hurricanes forward Martin Gelinas appeared to have tied the score 1-1 at 9:28 of the third period…The goal was disallowed, however, by referee Kerry Fraser who ruled that Gelinas “batted” the puck with his glove off of Theodore and into the net. Montreal scored twice in a 2:53 minute span later in the period to secure Theodore’s second shutout against the Hurricanes this season…Hurricanes Head Coach Paul Maurice surpassed Jack Evans (374) for most games as head coach in franchise history with Thursday’s game…Hired on November 6, 1995, Maurice has compiled a 152-170-53 record during his tenure with the team, ranking second in wins and winning percentage (.472)…Hurricanes goaltender Arturs Irbe faced the team’s first penalty shot of the year on February 14 against the Maple Leafs…Irbe stopped the attempt by Toronto’s Kevyn Adams …Hurricanes captain Ron Francis was named the team’s Big Sky Beef Player of the Month for January after totaling 12 points (4g,8a) in 13 games…The Hurricanes are 10-1-0 in Saturday games this season…CAROLINA AT HOME: 13-12-1 CAROLINA ON THE ROAD: 11-15-5 CAROLINA ON THE POWER PLAY: 17.2% (40 for 232) CAROLINA SHORTHANDED: 81.7% (142 for 175).

TAMPA BAY NOTES: The Tampa Bay Lightning complete a two-game road trip with Saturday’s game…The Lightning fell to the Ottawa Senators 6-2 on Thursday night in Ottawa…The Lightning acquired RW Mike Johnson and defenseman Marek Posmyk and two draft picks on February 9 from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange of C Darcy Tucker…Second-year center Vincent Lecavalier leads the Lightning in goals (17) and points (43)…Tampa Bay is currently ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference with 37 points…Steve Ludzik is in his first year as the head coach of the Lightning…Ludzik led the Detroit Vipers of the IHL to a 154-58-34- record in three years as their head coach…TAMPA BAY AT HOME: 9-16-4 TAMPA BAY ON THE ROAD: 3-21-3 TAMPA BAY ON THE POWER PLAY: 14.2% (34 for 240) TAMPA BAY SHORTHANDED: 79.0% (211 for 267).
