The home unbeaten streak has eclipsed the record set by the Hartford Whalers from March 15-April 5, 1986 (5-0-2).

The Los Angeles Kings make their first visit to the Entertainment and Sports Arena Saturday afternoon for first of two meetings between Carolina and Los Angeles this season. The Hurricanes won the only contest between the two teams last year, defeating the Kings at the Staples Center 5-2 on March 2, 2000. Sami Kapanen had a goal and two assists in that game, and Rod Brind’Amour also had a pair of assists. The Hurricanes are 23-24-7 all-time against Los Angeles, including a 13-10-4 mark at home.
Carolina defenseman Glen Wesley will play in his 1000th NHL game Saturday afternoon. Carolina winger Jeff O’Neill has 20 points in his last 18 games (13g, 7a), scoring goals in 11 of those games.
