HURRICANES VS. PHOENIX NOTES:
The Hurricanes and the Phoenix Coyotes meet for the first of two matchups this season on Wednesday night. The teams meet again on February 16 in Raleigh. The Coyotes swept the Hurricanes last season, defeating Carolina 4-2 in Raleigh and 7-5 in Phoenix. Martin Gelinas (2g, 1a) and Ron Francis (1g, 2a) led all Hurricanes scorers with three points each. The Hurricanes are 26-21-8 all-time against the Coyotes franchise including a 12-8-6 record at home and a 14-13-2 record on the road.
HURRICANES VS. LOS ANGELES NOTES:
The Los Angeles Kings meet the Hurricanes for the second of two games this season. The Kings defeated the Hurricanes 6-3 in their first-ever visit to the Entertainment and Sports Arena on Jan. 20. The Hurricanes won the only contest between the two teams last year, defeating the Kings 5-2 at the Staples Center on March 2, 2000. Sami Kapanen scored a goal and two assists in that game, and Rod Brind’Amour also had a pair of assists. The Hurricanes are 23-25-7 all-time against Los Angeles, including a 10-14-3 mark in Los Angeles.
