CAROLINA NOTES: The Carolina Hurricanes snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime victory over division leader Florida Panthers…Nolan Pratt scored 27 seconds into overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Florida Panthers, 4-3, at the Entertainment and Sports Arena…The game-winner was generated as Gary Roberts dug the puck from behind the net and slid a pass to Jeff O’Neill who fed Pratt in the slot…Forward Tommy Westlund recorded the team’s first short-handed goal of the season to give Carolina a 1-0 lead in the first period…Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Ron Francis and Martin Gelinas scored in a 4:29 span to account for the Hurricanes’ other goals…The win also ended a 20-game winless streak (0-2-18) in overtime for the Hurricanes, who had previously defeated the NY Rangers on January 28, 1999 at the Greensboro Coliseum…The Hurricanes have scored 16 goals on the power-play in their last 15 games (16-for-56, 28.6 %)…Carolina has lost their last three games on the road since defeating the St. Louis Blues 4-2 on December 7…CAROLINA AT HOME: 8-7-2 CAROLINA ON THE ROAD: 6-8-5 CAROLINA ON THE POWER PLAY: 18.6% (27 for 145) CAROLINA SHORTHANDED: 85.3% (93 for 109).
