GAME NIGHT:
The Carolina Hurricanes wrap-up their three-game road trip Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. (CT) against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Center. The Hurricanes began their road trip on December 6 at Atlanta with a 5-3 win over the Thrashers. Carolina team captain Ron Francis earned his 1,100th and 1,101st assists at Atlanta and added his 1,102nd at Calgary on December 9 in a 7-2 loss to the Flames. The Hurricanes continue to hover around the .500 mark on the road with a 6-7-1-1 road record but have yet to earn a “W” on the road against the Western Conference.

CAROLINA / MINNESOTA SERIES:
Tonight marks the first-ever meeting between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Minnesota Wild. The Hurricanes-Whalers franchise has gone 23-11-3 all-time against expansion teams playing in their first season since joining the league in the 1979-80 season along with the Edmonton Oilers, the Winnipeg Jets and the Québec Nordiques. During the 1979-80 season, the then-Hartford Whalers went 5-4-3 against their three fellow expansion teams.

CAROLINA NOTES:
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Kevin Hatcher is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday night when the Hurricanes face off against the Minnesota Wild. Hatcher has missed the last eight games after suffering a broken hand against Ottawa on November 16. The Hurricanes have gone 5-3-2-1 in the 11 games Hatcher has played in a Carolina sweater… Hurricane forwards Sami Kapanen (12/6-12/9: 3g, 1a) and Ron Francis (12/6-12/9: 0g, 3a) look to begin scoring streaks Wednesday night, each having scored in the two games since the Hurricanes were shutout by Ottawa on December 3… Carolina forward Jeff O’Neill leads all Hurricanes scorers on the road with 10 points (6g, 4a) in 15 games away from Raleigh. Sandis Ozolinsh (2g, 7a) and Ron Francis (1g, 8a) trail O’Neill by one point in road scoring.

Hurricane forward Craig Adams suffered a bruised sternum vs. Philadelphia on November 30 and is day-to-day.
