GAME DAY:
The Carolina Hurricanes travel to Detroit for the final game of a five-game road stretch. The Hurricanes earned a tie with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Feb 11, running their record on the current road swing to 2-1-1. The Hurricanes have lost just five of their last 19 games (11-5-3). Carolina is unbeaten this season when leading after two periods (18-0-1). The Hurricanes have killed off 34 of their last 35 penalties on the road.

CAROLINA / DETROIT SERIES:
The Hurricanes and Red Wings meet on Wednesday night for the first and only time of the 2000-01 season. Detroit swept the season series last year, defeating Carolina 4-1 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena and 3-2 at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit’s Brendan Shanahan led all scorers with three points (1g, 2a) in the series last year. Detroit leads the all-time season series with Carolina 25-23-7, including a 15-7-6 mark at home. The Hurricanes have not won in Detroit since the 1989-90 season, when the team was 2-0 there. The Hurricanes are 0-10-0 in their last 10 games in Detroit.

Hurricanes center Rod Brind’Amour (8g, 12a) has 20 points in the last 16 games and has points in ten of his last 11 games (4g, 10a). Carolina winger Jeff O’Neill has 31 points in his last 28 games (22g, 9a), scoring goals in 16 of those games.
