Press Release: HURRICANES SIGN PROSPECT DANIEL BOISCLAIR TO THREE-YEAR DEAL

BOISCLAIR LED TEAM TO MEMORIAL CUP FINAL IN 2002

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 9, 2002) – Jim Rutherford, CEO and General Manager of the Eastern Conference champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team has signed goaltender Daniel Boisclair (DAN-yuhl BWUH-klair) to a three-year contract. Boisclair led the Victoriaville Tigres to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup Finals in 2002.

"Daniel was an instrumental part of Victoriaville’s Quebec League championship," said Rutherford. "He gives us more depth at the goaltending position as we look to the future."

Boisclair (6’2’’, 180 lbs.) was 13-6 with a 2.87 goals against average for Victoriaville during the team’s run to the Quebec League title and the Memorial Cup Finals. He had a 9-10-2 record with a 3.81 goals against average with Cape Breton before being acquired by Victoriaville midway through the season. Boisclair was 5-5-3 with a 3.23 goals against average for Victoriaville during the regular season. He is 37-52-8 with a goals against average of 3.85 in 116 career QMJHL regular season games.
