Press Release: HURRICANES SIGN FORWARD CRAIG MACDONALD TO ONE-YEAR EXTENSION

TEAM RECALLS MACDONALD TO THE NHL

RALEIGH, NC (Mar. 20, 2002) – Jim Rutherford, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that the team today signed forward Craig MacDonald to a one-year contract extension. The team also recalled MacDonald from Lowell of the American Hockey League (AHL).

MacDonald (6’1’’, 195 lbs.) played in one game for the Hurricanes on Feb. 10 at San Jose and did not register a point. In 64 games with Lowell this year, MacDonald has tallied 41 points (19g, 22a) and 61 penalty minutes. A third-round pick in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft from Harvard University, MacDonald played in 11 regular season games and one playoff game for the Hurricanes during the 1998-99 season.
