Press Release: HURRICANES RECALL ADAMS, SVOBODA FROM AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE

FORWARDS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY THURSDAY AGAINST FLYERS

RALEIGH, NC (March. 28, 2002) – Jim Rutherford, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that the team today recalled forwards Craig Adams and Jaroslav Svoboda from Lowell of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Adams (6’0’’, 200 lbs.) has played 27 games for Carolina this season without registering a point. In 21 games with the first-place Lock Monsters, he has totaled nine points (5g, 4a) and 49 penalty minutes. A ninth-round draft pick in 1996 from Harvard University, Adams scored one point (1g, 0a) in 44 regular season games with the Hurricanes last year, his first in the NHL.

Svoboda (6’2’’, 190 lbs.) made his NHL debut for Carolina on March 11 against Calgary. A native of Cervenka, Czech Republic, Svoboda has 28 points (12g, 16a) and 58 penalty minutes in 65 games for Lowell this season. He had 14 points for Cincinnati of the International Hockey League last season, his first season as a professional.
