CHRIS DINGMAN RETURNS TO ACTIVE LIST
RALEIGH, NC (Oct. 23, 2001) -
The Carolina Hurricanes placed defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh on the Injured Reserve list this morning, retroactive to Oct. 18. Carolina activated Chris Dingman from the Injured Reserve list, and Dingman is available for tonight’s game at Colorado (9:00 p.m. EST; Fox Sports Net/Comcast Sports Net).
A player must remain on the Injured Reserve list for at least one week retroactive to the date of the injury. Ozolinsh sprained his knee against the New York Islanders on Oct. 18 at Nassau Coliseum. The five-time NHL All-Star will be eligible for a return to the active list in time for the Hurricanes’ game against the Islanders on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Dingman, who has not played since he suffered a groin injury in a preseason game at Atlanta on Sept. 26, could make his Hurricanes debut tonight against his former team in Denver. The Hurricanes acquired Dingman from the Avalanche in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft on June 24.
