INSTRUCTION TO BE HELD AT THE RECZONE IN JULY
RALEIGH, NC (Nov. 9, 2001) - The Carolina Hurricanes will conduct the fourth annual Canes Summer Hockey Camp for children ages 14 and under at the RecZone in Raleigh from on July 15-19 and 22-26, 2002.
The hockey camp, headed by Hurricanes television analyst and former professional goaltender Tripp Tracy, will have two levels based on the player’s skill level. There will be a skills development camp for players with no experience and an advanced level camp, conducted at a higher level, for the experienced player. The development camp, which costs $325 for skaters and $300 for goaltenders, will feature instruction on skills, street hockey, Hurricanes locker room tour, equipment talks and nutrition talks. The advanced camp, which costs $400 for skaters and $350 for goaltenders, will feature all of the above as well as video study.
The five-day camp will feature Carolina head coach Paul Maurice as well as guest appearances by Hurricanes players who will join the Canes Summer Hockey School staff with on-ice instruction. Last summer, Hurricanes players such as Glen Wesley, Bates Battaglia, Jeff Daniels and Steve Halko contributed to the instruction.
All campers will receive a camp gift bag, hockey jersey and four Lower Level Hurricanes tickets for the 2002-2003 season. Space is limited.
