The Carolina Hurricanes will take all 44 players remaining on the training camp roster on the road to the state of New York.
Twenty of those players will dress tonight in Buffalo, as the Canes take on the Sabres in their second preseason match. Much of the lineup is comprised of players who did not play on Sunday in the team’s preseason opener, though Riley Nash and John-Michael Liles will see action again.
“We’ve had at least two more skates, so they should be able to make better reads in the D zone,” head coach Bill Peters said. “It shouldn’t be quite as sloppy, but it’s still game one for (most of) these guys.”
Victor Rask and Brock McGinn will be reunited on a line; that duo was a constant offensive threat for the Canes’ prospects team in Traverse City, Mich.
“They’ve had good chemistry there, and I think they deserve the opportunity to continue that on,” Peters said. “They’ve got a chance to push for a spot, and if nothing else, to be the first or second call-up here this year.”
Anton Khudobin will get the start in net, with free-agent signee Drew MacIntyre serving as the back-up.
“[Khudobin] is fired up and ready,” Peters said. “He had his game face on here today”
