Following the game against the Sabres, Carolina will travel to Pittsburgh, where the Hurricanes will take on the Penguins on Sunday. The Hurricanes are currently riding a three-game win streak since falling to the Sabres at home on Dec. 4.

The two teams will meet again on New Year’s Eve at HSBC Arena and finish their regular season series at the Entertainment & Sports Arena on Jan. 29. The Sabres defeated the Hurricanes in the two teams’ first meeting this season 4-2 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The Hurricanes and Sabres split last year’s season series with two wins apiece, each team winning both games at its home arena. Jeff O’Neill was the leading scorer in last year’s season series with five points (2g, 3a) in four games. The Sabres lead the all-time series between the two franchises 75-52-17, including a 33-30-10 advantage on the road and a 42-22-7 advantage in Buffalo.
