Greenville-based stations to carry 35 Hurricanes games


RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that Greenville, NC-based Pirate Radio has joined the Hurricanes Radio Network.

On its two frequencies, WGHB 1250 AM and WDLX 930 AM, Pirate Radio will carry 35 regular-season Hurricanes games and all potential postseason games. Along with coverage of the games, the Hurricanes and Pirate Radio will partner on various promotions throughout the 2006-07 season. For more information on Pirate Radio, please visit

The 35-game package includes Hurricanes games on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Please see the schedule below. The Hurricanes Radio Network covers all 82 of the Hurricanes’ regular-season games and all of the team’s postseason action. Hall of Fame play-by-play man Chuck Kaiton begins his 27th season as the radio voice of the franchise and will paint the picture each game night for listeners.

The Carolina Hurricanes will open the 2006-07 season at the RBC Center on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. against the Buffalo Sabres.
