The Carolina Hurricanes hosted approximately 9,000 elementary students from 11 local schools for the Cool School Field Trip on Monday, Feb. 25.
The field trip serves as the celebration for the conclusion of the Canes' annual Readvolution program, which encourages students to read daily. Complete the eight-week challenge, you could get invited to practice!

Readvolution, presented by United Way of the Greater Triangle, is a partnership between the Carolina Hurricanes and three local public school systems (Wake County, Durham County and Chatham County). Readvolution challenged 138 elementary schools in three counties to read 2,020 books from Sept. 24 through Nov. 16, asking individual students to perform 20 minutes of reading outside the classroom each day during the eight-week period for a total of 800 minutes. Schools that collectively read 2,020 books during those eight weeks were entered to participate in the Cool School Field Trip.
A total of 268,934 books were read by elementary students during the Readvolution period.
