RALEIGH, NC. -The Carolina Hurricanes announced Friday afternoon that forward Max Pacioretty has been placed on injured reserve.
Playing in just his fifth game of the season after suffering an Achilles tendon tear over the summer , the 34-year-old winger needed to be helped off the ice after suffering a non-contact injury with just 19 seconds to go in Thursday's 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour said following Friday's practice at Invisalign Arena that he did not have any update, and that the team is expecting to know more in a few days after he is evaluated further.
"It doesn't look good. I mean, we don't know, but it doesn't look good." - Rod Brind'Amour's opening comments, post-game, regarding the injury to Max Pacioretty inside the final minute.
"Hopefully it's not as bad as we think, but I'm not too optimistic right now."
