Recovery time for the procedure estimated at 2-3 months

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 11, 2004) – Jim Rutherford, President / General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that forward Jeff O’Neill will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Douglas Martini of Cary Orthopedic. Recovery time is estimated at 2-3 months.

O’Neill notched 34 points (14g, 20a) this season in 67 games. The Richmond Hill, Ont., native ranks third in franchise history in points (416), fourth in goals (198) and assists (218) and fifth in power-play goals (67). He is fifth in franchise history in games played (673). Prior to this season, he had produced three consecutive seasons with at least 30 goals.
