Tuomo Ruutu and Team Finland were in action on Friday, Feb. 14.

FIN 6, NOR 1 [Recap, Stats]: Ruutu posted two assists and was a plus-3 as Finland trounced Norway 6-1. Ruutu’s first assist came as he fished a puck out of the corner and fed Olli Maatta at the point, leading to a Lauri Korpikoski redirection in front. Through two tournament games, Ruutu ranks second in team assists (2) and tied for first in plus/minus (plus-3).

Slovakia, Team USA and Russia were involved in preliminary round action on Saturday, Feb 15.

SLV 3, SVK 1 [Recap, Stats]: Slovenia earned their first-ever victory in men’s Olympic hockey, defeating Andrej Sekera and Team Slovakia 3-1 thanks to a three-goal third period. For the second game in a row, Sekera was again the team-leader in ice time, skating in 26:30, and he was a minus-1.

USA 3, RUS 2 (SO) [Recap, Stats]: If you missed this tilt, you missed one heck of a hockey game. And this is just the preliminary round. T.J. Oshie scored the deciding goal – his fourth goal in six tries – in the eighth round of the shootout. In regulation, Team USA netted two power-play goals, and Pavel Datsyuk scored twice for the Russians. Faulk was again a scratch for the Americans, and Semin registered a shot on goal in 14:34 of ice time.
