RALEIGH, NC - The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation today announced that Carolina Hurricanes forward Nino Niederreiter has been added to its roster for the 2019 IIHF World Championship. The tournament is currently being held from May 10-26 in Slovakia.

Niederreiter, 26, registered 30 points (14g, 16a) in 36 regular-season games with Carolina after being acquired from Minnesota in exchange for Victor Rask on January 17. The 6'2", 218-pound forward also posted four points (1g, 3a) in 15 playoff games with the Hurricanes. Niederreiter has recorded 261 points (126g, 135a) in 534 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Wild and Islanders. The Chur, Switzerland, native has previously represented his country at the IIHF World Championship five times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018), as well as at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Niederreiter has recorded 23 points (12g, 11a) in 37 career IIHF World Championship games, and won silver in both 2013 and 2018.
