You might notice things look a bit different around here, and you would be correct! Welcome to the new CarolinaHurricanes.com.
Over the summer, we've been hard at work with our friends over at MLBAM to redesign our club's site in the same vein that NHL.com exists currently. Here are some features and highlights of our new digs.
- Responsiveness: This is perhaps the biggest upgrade, one for which we've all been clamoring for quite some time. Gone are the days of a desktop and a mobile site. Now it's one site, and you'll see the same content whether you're on a large desktop screen or a much-smaller mobile phone screen. It's a streamlined and cohesive experience that I think you will really come to enjoy.
- New homepage experience: As with the rest of the site, the homepage got a bit of a facelift. You'll find a scrolling list of games at the very top of the homepage under the navigation menu. Top stories are in a very similar position as they were on the old site. Below that is a mixed feed of various items - links, videos, tweets and more. To the right, you'll find different content modules - videos, standings, stats, the latest news and more. In all, we're delivering more #content to you than ever right on the first page you see.
- More news: Over the last five-plus years, we've strived to make CarolinaHurricanes.com your inside source for news. The new News section on the site makes it easier than ever for you to consume everything from gameday blogs to news releases to feature stories. When you first land on the News page, the most recent story greets you. You can continue to scroll down the page, seeing headlines, pictures and the first few grafs of every article (followed by a "View More" button if you want to read on). On the left side of the News page, you can quick-jump to a full article by simply clicking on the graphic.
Essentially it's much of the same site you're used to, just updated, responsive and better!
All that said, this is a fluid transition, so please be patient with us as everything migrates over to the new site. If you see anything broken or have a feature request, let us know! You can drop a comment below, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or find me on Twitter at @MSmithCanes.
