RALEIGH, NC – Doug Warf, Vice President of Marketing for the Carolina Hurricanes and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, announced today that Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm will visit with students from the Hill Center and John Avery Boys & Girls Club in Durham on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at the John Avery gym (808 East Pettigrew Street, Durham) and is open to the media.
The Hill Center and John Avery Boys & Girls Club received a GOAL Grant in the fall of 2014 for a collaborative effort to help literacy in the Durham community – a $150,000 commitment from the Foundation over a three-year span. The funds will enable John Avery Boys & Girls Club program participants to receive intensive reading remediation weekly through the Hill Center’s HillRAP program.
On Wednesday, Lindholm will participate in question-and-answer sessions with Boys & Girls Club members in three different age groups – elementary school, middle school and high school. There will also be games and trivia for the kids as well as an autograph session and group photo.
