Hurricanes to Assign Six to Charlotte

Training camp roster now at 27 players

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will assign six players to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).

Forwards Nicolas Roy, Valentin Zykov, and Aleksi Saarela will join Charlotte (AHL) immediately, whose training camp is already underway; and defensemen Trevor Carrick and Jake Chelios, and goaltender Jeremy Smith will be assigned pending waivers at noon on Friday.


The Hurricanes training camp roster is now at 27 players. Carolina will close out its preseason slate on Friday against the Washington Capitals at PNC Arena.
