HURRICANES SUSPEND ANTON BABCHUK

Defenseman refused assignment to Carolina’s AHL affiliate Albany

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has suspended defenseman Anton Babchuk for failing to report to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Albany River Rats. The Hurricanes assigned Babchuk to Albany on Feb. 6 as defenseman Frantisek Kaberle was activated from the non-roster injured list.

The Carolina Hurricanes scored a 2-1 victory at Montreal on Tuesday in the first game of a three-game road trip that will take them to Boston on Thrusday (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network) and Minnesota on Saturday (8 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes return to the RBC Center on Feb. 13 to take on the Los Angeles Kings (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network) in the first game of a two-game home stand.
