RALEIGH, NC - As part of the National Hockey League's Green initiative, the Carolina Hurricanes have partnered with Michigan-based Resolute Building Intelligence. This partnership will further grow the Hurricanes' approach to reduce annual energy consumption and costs while improving fan comfort at PNC Arena. With Resolute's cloud-based energy management solution, the Hurricanes are now able to collect and analyze arena performance data in real-time, and use this data to develop and implement strategies to improve arena operations.

"What Resolute has done for us is to provide us with the data and the tools to find additional scales of efficiency in our existing systems." said Dennis Moore, CFO, PNC Arena.
The software's Key Performance Indicators track and measure the important aspects of arena operations, such as ice temperature, electrical consumption (kwh), peak demand (kW), and several others. Using the Resolute software, the arena team can collect, track, and analyze this data across an entire season, monthly, weekly and even at the game-day level, allowing them to accurately determine the key factors that drive arena energy usage night-in and night-out.
Since this partnership began a year ago, PNC Arena has saved more than $230,000 in annual utility savings to date, with a target of $400,000+ annually. Additionally, the arena has reduced electrical consumption by 7%, natural gas consumption by 11%, domestic water consumption by 15%, and has improved fan comfort by increasing bowl temperature, all while maintaining an NHL regulated ice temperature.
"I would tell any of my counterparts that the Resolute solution works. If you want to save money, it is a good partnership because they're here to help you with that and to show you ways to save money on your energy." Said Dave Olsen, EVP/GM, PNC Arena.
