Murray Returns to Raleigh for Child's Birth

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2004) - Jim Rutherford, President / General Manager of theCarolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled centerMike Zigomanis from Lowell of the American Hockey League. Zigomanis isbeing recalled to allow forward Marty Murray to be with his wife Andreafor the birth of the couple's first child.

Zigomanis, 23, leads the Lock Monsters in points (39) and assists (29)while playing in 45 games this season. The North Bay, Ont., native wasnamed the AHL's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for the period ending Jan.25. Zigomanis (6' 1", 200 lbs.) played 19 games with the Hurricanes lastseason, recording two goals and an assist in his first NHL recall. TheHurricanes drafted Zigomanis in the second round, 46th overall, in the2001 NHL Entry Draft.
