– Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has recalled forward Zach Boychuk
from Charlotte of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.
This marks the third NHL recall of the season for Boychuk, 24, who has four points (1g, 3a) in nine NHL games this season. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks tied for first in the AHL in goals and tied for fourth in points (67). Boychuk (5’10”, 185 lbs.), is also first in the AHL in power-play goals (16) and was named CCM/AHL Player of the Month in March after notching 22 points (9g, 13a) in 16 games. Carolina’s first-round selection, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk has totaled nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 94 career NHL games with Carolina, Pittsburgh and Nashville.
