RALEIGH, NC (October 30, 2000) – Jim Rutherford, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today the team has recalled goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the International Hockey League. Goaltender Arturs Irbe left the team after Sunday’s game against St. Louis to attend his grandmother’s funeral in Latvia. Irbe will rejoin the team for Friday’s game in Colorado.

Pelletier has compiled a record of 3-1 with the Cyclones this season with a save percentage of .929 and a goals against average of 2.51. Pelletier was acquired along with Rod Brind’Amour and a second-round pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft for Keith Primeau and a fifth-round pick in the 2000 draft. Last season he split the year between Philadelphia of the American Hockey League and Cincinnati. He was 14-10-0 with Philadelphia, including a 2.49 goals against average. In Cincinnati last season, Pelletier had a record of 14-4-2 and a 2.44 goals against average.
