RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Bryan Rodney from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. To make room for Rodney on the team’s roster, defenseman Niclas Wallin has been placed on injured reserve.
This marks the second NHL recall for Rodney, who averaged 14:31 of ice time in his first two career NHL games during his mid-December recall. The London, Ont., native leads all River Rats defensemen in scoring this season with 22 points (2g, 20a). The Hurricanes signed Rodney during the 2008 offseason after he played 42 games with Albany during the second half of 2007-08.
