Winger Played Wednesday at Pittsburgh
RALEIGH, N.C. – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has reassigned left wing Mike Watt to Lowell of the American Hockey League. Watt was recalled from Lowell on Wednesday played in Carolina’s game last night at Pittsburgh.
Watt (6’ 2’’, 212 lbs.) was signed as a free agent by Carolina in the 2002 offseason. The Seaforth, Ont., native appeared in his fifth game with the Hurricanes on Wednesday and has played 157 NHL games with Edmonton, New York Islanders, Nashville and Carolina, scoring 41 points (15g, 26a) and accumulating 45 penalty minutes. Watt, 26, has nine goals and 14 assists (23 points) in 61 games with Lowell this season. He was selected by Edmonton in the second round, 32nd overall, in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
The Hurricanes wrap up their 2002-03 road schedule on Friday at Florida’s Office Depot Center (7:30 p.m., Fox SportsNet). Carolina will conclude the 2002-03 season against the New York Islanders on Sunday at the RBC Center in a 3 p.m. matinee.
