Goalie Patrick DesRochers was 1-2 in three appearances for the Hurricanes this preseason.

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 3, 2003) – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that goaltender Patrick DesRochers has been reassigned to Lowell of the American Hockey League. The move comes after the Hurricanes signed free-agent goaltender Jamie Storr to a one-year contract.

DesRochers, 23, was acquired by the Hurricanes from Phoenix on Dec. 30, 2002, in exchange for goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier. DesRochers (6’ 4”, 205 lbs.) played two games with Carolina last season and recorded a 1-1-0 record. He also recorded a 6-16-2 record and a 2.75 goals-against average in 25 AHL appearances with Lowell and Springfield in 2002-03. DesRochers has appeared in three of Carolina’s first six exhibition games this preseason, recording a 1-2-0 record and a 4.00 goals-against average.

Carolina will finish its 2003 exhibition schedule with a home-and-home, back-to-back set with Washington beginning tonight at MCI Center and concluding Saturday at the RBC Center.

The Hurricanes open their seventh season in North Carolina on Oct. 9 at Florida, before returning to the RBC Center for their home opener, Saturday, Oct. 11 against defending Stanley Cup champion New Jersey.
