Hurricanes Reassign Jay Harrison to Albany

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the club has reassigned defenseman Jay Harrison to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Harrison, 27, has played in Carolina’s last eight games and collected two assists since being recalled from Albany on Dec. 6. The Oshawa, Ont., native has played in 18 games with the Hurricanes this season, scoring one goal and earning four assists (5 points), while averaging 14:15 of ice time per game. Harrison (6’4”, 211 lbs.) has totaled eight points (1g, 7a) and a plus-4 plus/minus rating in 15 AHL games with the River Rats this season. The Hurricanes signed Harrison as a free agent on July 9, 2009. He was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round, 82nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
