RALEIGH, NC - Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Bill Peters today announced the team's captains for the 2017-18 season. Defenseman Justin Faulk and forward Jordan Staal will serve as co-captains this season and forward Jeff Skinner will serve as alternate captain. Staal will primarily serve as captain at home and Faulk will primarily serve as captain on the road.
Faulk, 25, has recorded 192 points (66g, 126a) in 401 career NHL games with Carolina. The South St. Paul, MN, native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
Staal, 29, has registered 436 points (187g, 249a) in 764 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Carolina. Staal, who is entering his sixth season with the Hurricanes, has tallied 188 points (67g, 121a) in 333 career games with Carolina. The Thunder Bay, Ont., native was drafted by Pittsburgh in the first round, second overall, in the 2006 NHL Draft.
Skinner, 25, has earned 330 points (180g, 150a) in 497 career NHL games with the Hurricanes. The Markham, Ont., native was drafted by Carolina in the first round, seventh overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
