RALEIGH, NC (September 28, 2000) – Ken Lehner, Vice President of Marketing Communications for the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team’s official website has been re-launched with a fresh new look and a new web address. The official website, formerly www.caneshockey.com, can now be found at CarolinaHurricanes.com.
The Hurricanes’ redesign of the website is in direct response to fan input requesting changes such as more information on the front page, cleaner navigation, and a search engine. The site’s new search engine is powered by Mondo Search and allows fans to access specific information more quickly. The website changes are an extension of the Hurricanes’ “Contract with the Fans” as the team continues to meet the needs and requests of its fans. CarolinaHurricanes.com reached a major milestone recently, registering over 1 million page impressions over the past 30 days.
“We realize how valuable the content of our website is to our global fans,” said Lehner. “We also realize that the website can provide a convenient way for fans to purchase tickets, with 36% of individual game ticket sales for Hurricanes games now occurring over the Internet. These changes will make CarolinaHurricanes.com more user friendly, and is another great step in fulfilling the ‘Contract with the Fans.’”
The Carolina Hurricanes open the regular season on Saturday, October 7, as the Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals at the Entertainment and Sports Arena at 7:00 p.m. The Hurricanes play their final exhibition game of the 2000-01 preseason against the Capitals on Tuesday night at the MCI Center at 7:00 p.m.
