by Staff Writer / Carolina Hurricanes

RALEIGH, NC (Mar. 13, 2000) – Jim Cain, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Southeast Division Champion Carolina Hurricanes, announced today the team has joined forces with Pepsi, MIX 101.5 FM, FOX 50, and Midway Airlines to sponsor the “Give Blood, Watch Hockey” promotion, in celebration of National Red Cross Month.

“The aim of the ‘Give Blood, Watch Hockey’ promotion is to create awareness of National Red Cross Month and to recognize the many people of North Carolina who get involved to help others,” said Cain. “The Carolina Hurricanes are proud to assist the efforts of the American Red Cross, who provide such an essential service to our community.”

All card-carrying Red Cross blood donors and those who make a financial contribution or register for a health and safety class to the Red Cross before March 24th will receive a free ticket, based on availability, to the Carolina Hurricanes’ home game on Wednesday, March 29 against the Nashville Predators at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

“The American Red Cross is grateful to the Carolina Hurricanes and their corporate partners for taking part in Red Cross Month by recognizing our community’s true lifesavers—those who support Red Cross programs and services,” said Sherry P. Mitchell, Marketing Communications Manager for the American Red Cross.
