The penultimate game of the Hurricanes Homegrown Series is Saturday, as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Nashville Predators to close out a three-game homestand.
New this season, the Hurricanes Homegrown Series features eight games that showcase some of the best that our local community has to offer in clothing, beer, food, art and music.
Heading to PNC Arena for Saturday night hockey? Here's an in-depth look at each Homegrown aspect.
Runaway designed a produced this t-shirt, which features an amalgam of symbols and designs - including skater and goalie sticks, snowflakes, pucks, the Hurricanes' primary and secondary logos, warning flags, the Runaway rabbit and much more - all forming the shape of a goalie mask. When doors open at 6 p.m., 144 of these shirts will be available at The Eye's main location (south end of PNC Arena adjacent to the box office) for $30. Each shirt is marked by a unique printed tag that denotes the game, the shirt series and the overall quantity printed, and there is a limit of two shirts per person per purchase.
Flights, featuring four six-ounce pours, of Lynnwood Brewing Concern's beer will be available outside of section 121. You can select any combinations of the brews they offer, and the flights are priced at $11.
The featured in-house, signature food item: pork belly and macaroni & cheese pizza. This personal pie is a southern, cheesy delight, and it's available for $8 at the Sliced stand at section 114.
This poster, the first and only horizontal original creation in this series, was designed by local artist and founder of Runaway Gabriel Eng-Goetz. These posters will be available free to the first 1,000 fans, and you can swing by section 108 to pick one up and chat with the artist, as well.
Kasey Tyndall, a country music artist who grew up a Hurricanes fan in North Carolina, will perform live during the first and second intermissions. Kasey discussed her homegrown roots and played "Carolina in Me" (which was co-written with Katie Basden, another featured Homegrown Series artist) while live on the Hurricanes Facebook page last weekend. Check that out here.
