RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the details of the team’s annual community day set for Tuesday, Dec. 17.

At 1:30 p.m., three groups of Hurricanes players will visit REX Hospital, UNC Children’s Hospital and the WakeMed Children Emergency Department, to spread some holiday cheer. Players will hand out blankets and Hurricanes items, and will take pictures and sign autographs as they visit with patients.

Later on Tuesday at Cary Towne Center, four Hurricanes players will join four children from Durham Nativity School and help them shop for holiday gifts for their families. Belk has donated four gift cards for the children to use while shopping at Cary Towne Center to go along with contributions from the Hurricanes and the players. The shopping event will begin at 4 p.m.

Also at 4 p.m., two Hurricanes players will join 20 children from East Durham Children’s Initiative at the Ice Factory skating rink at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. There, the children will get to enjoy an hour of skating and interaction with the Hurricanes players.
